My Crystal Ball

With the college basketball season in general it seems as though, the one question that is on everybody’s mind is: Just who are some of the better teams out there? That of course can be and is a really hard question to answer with so much unpredictable and awesome talent out there. However, this is not to say that we cannot predict just who some of the better teams are, and how they may rank as the season begins and progresses. Personally, I feel it is important to focus first on a team that has shook things up in ways that most of us (even the experts) would have never expected. It is a team that has left most of us in shock at times, and astonished in others. That team is none other than Gonzaga, or should I say the ever popular unpredictable’s. This team has caused more trouble for the so-called “better schools” with so-called “better programs”, then any other school I know or have heard of. This could be mainly in part due to the fact that they have an unbelievable ability to make the shot when it counts the most. Thus, we must always be ready, be prepared, and anticipate and not forget about Gonzaga. Yet, another example of just how unpredictable things can be in the world of college basketball is how about that Michigan State/Grand Valley State game, where Grand Valley  pulled it off, and the green and white brought anything but their A-Game to the table. This is not to say that Michigan State did not play well, however it was not the best of their true abilities as the game was a close 85 to 82. In other news and three-point action, I am personally excited to see such teams as: North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, Duke, and Arizona step out and show us what they are all about. All in all, I cannot make any predictions and I’ll tell you why. This amazing, and fun world of college basketball can not be predicted by anyone, because no matter how great you’re psychic or statistical abilities may be, you truly and honestly never know, just who will step up, and who will be made to shut up.

Bound for Glory (Even if you don’t think so)

Is it just me or does it seem like people sometimes lose sight and forget about what is most important? That’s why as a Wayne State University Graduate, I can tell you that I honestly am ready, and love it when b-ball season rolls around! Now sure, there are a lot bigger and perhaps better schools, but let us never count out the awesome action you can catch, even if your grades were not good enough to get into one of those schools. The GLIAC is full of all sorts of excitement, especially within in the world of hoops. Furthermore, from a sheer logistical standpoint, isn’t it about time, we started to give everyone a fair shot at getting some of the lime light? This is not of course to say that these young and able athletes do not get their chance to shine, but instead that we can get caught up in all of the busyness of life, and forget about things such as the GLIAC. Now in case you are on of those people who would like to know more about GLIAC basketball, you can always check out the GLIAC websites. Furthermore, today November 1, 2007, Wayne State’s Men’s basketball team will be traveling to Bowling Green, Ohio to play in an exhibition contest. Aside from Wayne State other great schools such as Grand Valley State University and Northern Michigan University, have some great basketball potential and hopes as well. Still, there is a hope in writing all of this. The hope is that, in the midst of the bigger schools, we do not always have to associate them as having better or more professional players. So here it is, we must not forget about the GLIAC, and also we must remember that these kids play their hearts out just as much, as any other bigger or smaller school would and does. For if they do not, then really where is the heart in what we call the passion for sports and the game? Stay tuned for more information, schedules, and happenings as the season unfolds.
